Field Trip to Windswept Ranch

Today Little H had a field trip set to go to Windswept Ranch in Willow Springs, CA. (About 30 minutes from our school) I had planned to just take Amelia and him, but then we got a text last night that the older kiddos teacher was going to be out sick and since we have a unique school setup, there's no substitute teachers. They were thrilled thinking they didn't have to go into class today and could just be lazy all day.. but no.. I brought them along to see the animals. I am so glad I did! They all had a lot of fun.

I started the day with a Starbucks stop and then took the five kiddos to get donuts. Because sugared up children stuck in a car with me is a great idea! Yeah. I clearly care nothing about the few brain cells I have left.

Thankfully it wasn't a long drive and I got there with most of my sanity. I kinda looked like this fella when I arrived.

Windswept Ranch had all sorts of cool animals; camels, zebra, alpacas, all sorts of hairy beasts with crazy faces. The kids were so excited as we pulled up and they saw the buffalo and bison.

They were all handed buckets of carrots to walk around and feed the animals. Amelia fed the ranch dogs though. Sorry Windswept Ranch for my 4 year old tossing carrots at their heads at first.

Austin wasn't too sure about the animals with the big teeth. Might have been because I told him I knew a guy who knew a guy that got all his fingers chomped of my a goat. Not true, but I like to mess with the kids heads often. Keeps me entertained and keeps them questioning my sanity.

I brought my new Go Pro Hero 6 because I am just loving that thing right now. And taking wide angle photos of goofy looking animals is too fun. I highly recommend the Go Pro. It's perfect for on the go and so quick and easy to use and the photo quality is fantastic.

Pretty sure they were telling each other jokes. I think Miss S was most excited about all the various animals we saw.

Not sure what's going on here, but it's hilarious.

The camels were awesome! Get close enough and they'll 'kiss' you. There weren't any camel kissers in our group though. Not sure why a camel slobbering on half your face isn't appealing?

Seriously.. how cute is this camel? Lil' model!

I forgot what these guys were called. This one took a carrot from me and just kept it in his mouth for a minute.

I think most of the animals thought my little Go Pro was a treat.

OK, really.. Just gimme all the wide angle animal pics! Gonna wallpaper my bathroom with them.

The alpacas were my favorite! They are so goofy looking and seem to have quirky personalities. I wonder if Seth would let me have one or thirteen?

Oh, it's me again!

And here's Little H getting taken on a walk by this alpaca who has a part-time job as a professional human walker.

I love little field trips like this and it's a lot of fun when most the kids are with the same school and go as a group. Mama/Step Mama and five littles out having fun! I survived.. nobody pinched anyone.. nobody passed gas in the car only to put blame on everyone else.. and I didn't lose any children... (I tried to, but failed).

Thank you Windswept Ranch for a fun morning! We'll be back! Next time 'alpaca' lunch (Har-har.. get it?) and have a picnic!

Until next time!
